Live Oaks, survivors of century's of human occupation.
From the first peoples, to successive waves of European settlers, the oaks have endured , watching no doubt bemused with arboreal wisdom at the short range lives we live.
Like the SW Ontario rural landscapes I paint, these low country (at sea level) survivors are at risk from both human activities and from more frequent and stronger hurricanes.
This piece is part of my hurricane coast series, in which I'm recording the what is, before it becomes the what was.
