Hanging onto life in the dunes, a relic of the ocean side forest, this battered ancient tree has survived hurricanes creeping sea levels and humans... I'm told that this tree was probably a seedling when Columbus sailed these shores long may it live!
Every year when we go south I'm delighted and a bit surprised that she's still there, I say she because I'm sure she's the mother of many of the other smaller live oaks on this stretch of coast.
I'm drawn to old tree's, perhaps my druidic ancestors have left an imprint on my DNA. Like so many ancient peoples they believed that all living things had spirits. The more we learn about the interconnectedness of life the more it seems they may have been right!
